There was discussion about putting a trail in between the two streets.

Chair Elvig stated that Alpine Park is probably going to be our most used park as the RTC builds
out and thinks having sidewalks around makes sense to him.

Mr. Schatz stated that he doesn't feel the only issue is about people who are going to the skate
park, but also to other end of the park where there is a playground.

Chair Elvig suggested having a crosswalk in the middle, between the two cul-de-sacs, but he has
questions about the ditch area.

City Engineer Himmer stated that the problem is that the parking lot is 8 feet below, so a
staircase would need to be put in, which would not be ADA accessible.

Assistant City Engineer Jankowski stated that he has not looked at this option, so would need to
do more research if this is the location the Council would like.

Motion by Mayor Ramsey, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to postpone Consideration of
a Cross Walk across Alpine Drive at Alpine Park, to allow time for staff to research the
following: the option of a location in the middle; the possibility of a sidewalk on the north side;
ask for a speed study to be conducted in the area; a connection between 153rd Way and 153rd
Court and a trail connection between these two areas and Sunfish Lake Boulevard.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Mayor Ramsey and Councilmember McGlone.
Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Dehen.

Case #5

Consider Acquisition of Lot 1, Block 1, Pineview Estates 2nd Addition

City Engineer Himmer reviewed the staff report. He noted the property owner is present if there
are questions.

Chair Elvig noted that this is a ghost platted as a future MSA connection.

Mayor Ramsey asked how many other properties the City would need to acquire to be able to
make the connection to Alpine Drive.

Chair Elvig stated that there would be about ten properties that would need to be at least partially
taken to make that full connection.

City Engineer Himmer noted that the property owner threw out a number of $150,000 to
$200,000 for the City to acquire this land.

Motion by Mayor Ramsey, seconded by Chairperson Elvig, to refer Consideration of Acquisition
of Lot 1, Block 1, Pineview Estates 2nd Addition to the Finance Committee.

Public Works Committee / July 21, 2009
Page 4 of7
