request for greater latitude and different standards based on lot sizes, Staff refined the numbers of
items allowed and criteria to. what is being proposed now.

Points to Consider:

. Applicable to all types of vehicles and equipment rather than trying to categorize
. Number of vehicles allowed based on aggregate level oflot size
. Easier to manage and administer
. More incentive to store vehicles indoors
. May require access to property to view vehicles not within line of sight of street
. Would create more accessory structures
. Staff time required to verify number of vehicles ~.
. Vehicles must be stored on improved surface, equipment in rear yard will still not have to be,
but will now have a required setback
. Different requirements for different areas of the City

Additionally, the definition of driveway is being revised. This is in Sec. 9.02. We have had some
issues in the past with the current defInition of driveway and the City Attorney and Police Chief asked,
as part of this process, that we clarify that defInition.

Funding:

Drafting and processing the ordinance is covered under regular City Staff time.

Action Statement:

Will be based on Council and Planning Commission discussion.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator
Police Chief
City Attorney
CSO
Associate Planner
Environmental Coordinator

Copies to:
Deputy City Administrator

Attachments:

A.
