CASE # C\

REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS
By: Public Works Staff

Background:

The Public Works Committee met on Wednesday, August 19,2009 and discussed the following
SIX cases:

CITIZEN INPUT

There was none.

APPROVE AGENDA

Motion to approve the agenda as submitted.

Case #1:

Consider Cross Walks Across Alpine Drive at Alpine Park

Background:

At the July Public Works Committee meeting a request providing cross walks across Alpine
Drive to the residential neighborhood north of Alpine Park was considered.

The Committee discussed the recommended Staff direction being: evaluate and present a larger
project concept including cost analysis of a trail from Sunfish Lake Boulevard to Ramsey
Boulevard including a connection into the neighborhood to the north through the outlot just west
of 153rd Court.

Motion to recommend to City Council creating a crosswalk on the eastside of 153rd Court with
the following conditions: parking eliminated on the north side to create adequate sight line, and
no parking on the south side up to a reasonable sight line once the parking lot near the skatepark
is completed.

Action:

Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case #2

Review Septic System Repair Policy

Background:

Staff clarified that the owner is responsible for repairing their septic system. The primary
purpose of the City policy is when there are no other sources of finance help available to the
property owner. The City is the "last resort" when other funding is not an option. The current
policy was adopted to address residents who were adverse to repairing their septic systems.
