2009-09-02 08:58 Eagle Ridge Services

7637537781 >>

P 2/2

Attachment J

City of Ramsey
City Council
7550 Sunwood Drive NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Date September 1 2009

Re: Property at 16507 Germanium St. NW

Regarding: Planning Commission meeting on August 6, 2009. We are addressing the issues and concerns
of our neighbors that attended the meeting.
One concern brought up was regarding our business creating more traffic for the neighborhood. The
vehicles used basically come and go to the property once per day each way. All equipment and vehicles are not
even used dally. A concern of us damaging the roadway was brought up. Other construction vehicles, delivery
vehicles such as UPS, Fed Ex, garbage trucks, service vehicles, school buses etc. are comparable in weight to
anything that we drive to the property. There are several other similar work vehicles at residences in the same
neighborhood that drive in and out daily.
Another concern was about parking our vehicles on the street for extended periods of time. Generally it
Is only to move vehicles around or load up eqUipment to depart for the day.
There was a concern of the safety of children on the streets or at the bus stop. We have lived at this
residence for 25+ years and raised 3 children of our own here. We have not had an Incident of endangering any
children yet. Several years ago a neighbor from 164t11lane came to our house to see if our son drove a truck and
trailer around the block occasionally. She commented to us that she was Impressed howcarefultyhe went by
the houses when children were present. Other larger vehicles mentioned above would have the-same safety--
issues 8S our vehicles.' Perhaps no large vehicles should drive In the neighborhood at all. The city streets are
designed to accommodate any of these vehicles passing through.
One household was concerned about the unsightly appearance of our wood fence for them to look at or
their guests coming to their home to see. We were asked to leave the fence unfinished until this process was
resolved. We are allowed as homeowners to Install an approved fence on our property as long as we follow the
city regulations to install a fence. Fences are Installed to conceal items that others do not want to see. Our
equipment verses recreational vehicles are comparable to each other as eyesores to other neighbors. We are
trying to resolve this problem for them by Installing ill fence.
One other major issue brought up by all neighbors present was our business onslte devaluing their
property values. We find it hard to believe that a privacy fence with business equipment behind It would bring
down their value as they think. The economy In general has damaged our property values.
We are respectable homeowners and try to be neighborly to the best of our ability. This business Is part
of our livelihood and the economy proves to be rough at this time. We hope that you understand our need to
have this home occupancy permit approved to ease the financial burden of storing our equipment somewhere
else at this time. We will try not to make this a very long term solution.

=~te~ ~~9..",_

Charlotte & Mark ~fgren ,"uQr"
