RELATED EXPERIENCE

FARIBAULT ENERGY PARK MASTER PLAN AND SITE DESIGN

FARIBAULT, MINNESOTA
The Faribault Energy Park is located in Faribault, Minnesota, adjacent to Interstate 35,
just 30 minutes south of the Twin Cities. The project included the expansion of an existing
power plant facility into one of the most unique and innovative power generation and
educational facilities in the region. The Faribault Power Plant produces enough energy to
power 250,000 homes in Minnesota and it has become a model for sustainable power plant
design. The clean energy producing facility included the creation of wetlands and ponds
that are vital components to the recycling and cleaning of steam generation turbines. The
water is recycled and returned to the environment cleaner than it was before being used
for cooling. The wetlands and the surrounding 36 acre park provide the community with
an interpretive park complete with wind, hydro-electric and solar demonstration devices.
The mission of the demonstration park is to educate and inform the general public about
energy production and the environment. Hoisington Koegler Group led a multi-disciplinary
team in the master planning of all plant facilities.

IIKGi
Page 18 . Park Design Services
