RELATED EXPERIENCE

PAYNE MARYLAND VISION FRAMEWORK

SAINT PAUL, MINNESOTA
The Payne-Maryland Neighborhood and several longstanding organizations qn Saint
Paul's east side are at a critical juncture in their evolution. To establish a roadmap for
the future, the City of Saint Paul commissioned a team of consultants led by Hoisington
Koegler Group to prepare a visionary and strategic plan. The effort includes Saint Paul
Parks and Recreation, Saint Paul Public Libraries, Merrick Community Services, Arlington
Hills Lutheran Church, and Bradshaw Funeral Homes. This group is working in a unique
partnership to explore their collective futures and determine how they can pool resources
to keep a relevant presence in the neighborhood through the next generation.

HKGi employed a "design charrette" approach to the project in order to integrate the
community into the process of exploring and refining concept alternatives. The outcome
of the effort suggests what may be the most sustainable commercial development in
Minnesota with green roofs, solar panels, rainwater capture and reuse, wind turbines
and stormwater infiltration. The final product is part vision and part strategy that points
the way toward implementing this one-of-a kind and ground-breaking public/private
endeavor.

HKGi
Park Design Services - Page 19
