RIVERSIDE PARK

ST. ClOUD, MINNESOTA
While employed at Bonestroo and Associates, Ana Nelson worked as a project designer
for the Riverside Park Improvements Master Plan, Design Development, and Construction
Documentation. Riverside park is located along the banks of the Mississippi River in
Saint Cloud Minnesota. The park has a beautiful setting with full grown oak trees and
wonderful views to the river. City staff requested to design a new attraction for the
park including trails, playground areas, and a splash pad. Ana Nelson worked with the
Recreational Facilities Group at Bonestroo to develop concepts for the renovated park and
produce construction documents for all the site elements. Challenges included minimizing
disturbance to the existing trees for both design and construction phases, and placing
designed components to take advantage of sunny areas for the splash pad and shaded
areas for seating and picnic areas.

SPRINGBROOK NATURE CENTER

FRIDLEY, MINNESOTA
While employed at Bonestroo and Associates, Ana Nelson worked as a project manager
and designer for the Springbrook Nature Center's Master Plan. Ana Nelson worked with
Springbrook Nature Center's Foundation and City Staff to envision their Master Plan
called the SPRI NG Project, designed to offer visitors more interpretative and educational
amenities when they first arrive at the nature center as well as to reduce the impact of
too many people in the more pristine areas of the park. The Nature Center is currently
the largest and most heavily used park in Fridley and its value is well recognized within
the metropolitan community. The SPRING Master Plan Project focused on adapting
sustainability practices and educating the community about the importance of protecting
natural resources. Ana Nelson worked on portraying these ideas and how to expand the
Nature Center's potential. Conceptual designs, precedent imagery, space programming,
visioning sketches, and preliminary architectural renovation concepts.

HUBER PARK

SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
While employed at Bonestroo and Associates, Ana Nelson worked as a project designer
Huber Park's Master Plan and Design Development phase. Ana worked on developing
architectural design and custom features such as the performance area structure and
gateway features, as well as the design of trails, river stabilization measures, fishing decks,
rest room and storage facilities, parking area, site fumishings, and planting design.

RELATED EXPERIENCE

HKGi
Park Design Services .
