<br />Mayor Ramsey questioned if a motion could include the use of small machines of that nature. <br /> <br />Ms. Anderson suggested that the Council amend the definition of recreational vehicles to allow <br />for small, motorized vehicles that children would ride. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested passing this ordinance and making adjustments in the future. <br /> <br />A roll call vote was performed by the Recording Secretary: <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen aye <br />Councilmember McGlone aye <br />Councilmember Wise aye <br />Councilmember Look nay <br />Councilmember Jeffery aye <br />Councilmember Elvig aye <br />Mayor Ramsey aye <br /> <br />Motion as amended carried. <br /> <br />Case #8: <br /> <br />Consider a Resolution Eliminating Two Positions <br /> <br />Deputy City Administrator Nelson reviewed the staff report. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Ramsey, seconded by Councilmember Elvig, to adopt Resolution #09-09-235 <br />to eliminate a full-time Building Inspector position and the full-time Building Inspections <br />Secretary position, which will result in laying off Mr. Andrew Schreder and Ms. Frankie Jo <br />McNallan. Each employee's last day of work will be October 9,2009. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Dehen questioned clarification in regard to the severance <br />package. Deputy City Administrator Nelson explained that accrued vacation and a percentage of <br />accrued sick time would be paid out based on years of service. Councilmember Dehen stated <br />that he was concerned that the best employee may not be retained in certain circumstances due to <br />"bumping." Ms. Nelson explained that the process was set through the contract with the Union. <br />Councilmember Elvig explained that additional discussion occurred prior to the meeting and it <br />was not an easy decision. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Ramsey, Councilmembers Elvig, Dehen, Jeffrey, Look, <br />McGlone, and Wise.
