Items that will count towards the number restriction include, but are not limited to, the
following examples: vehicles, RV's, campers, boats, canoes, snowmobiles, jet-skis, ATV's,
go-carts, motocross bikes, motorcycles, fish houses, and other recreational equipment.

5. Items that will not count towards the number restriction include those items typically seen as
accessory to a residential use. Examples would be lawnmowers, garden tractors and
attachments, bicycles, wheelbarrows, play structures, step ladders, and other items used for
routine home and lawn maintenance.

6. Items stored outside, even though they may comply with the number restriction, are still
subject to all other public nuisance regulations.

7. Equipment, as well as motorized vehicles, will be required to be stored or parked on a
prepared parking surface in the front and side yards.

8. Residents will be allowed to have one unlicensed, inoperable vehicle that may be stored
outdoors. Tills vehicle will not be permitted to be stored in the front yard or driveway. It must
be stored in the side or rear yard on a prepared surface and must be completely screened from
adjacent properties. It would still be subject to the public nuisance regulations in Chapter 5.

9. The material for the prepared parking surface must be at least 2 inches in depth. It is reiterated
that Code requires the surface to be applied under the entire vehicle or equipment and extend
12 inches beyond the perimeter of the vehicle or equipment.

10. Vehicles or equipment for a commercial use will count towards.the maximum number of
items allowed to be parked or stored outside.

11. Screening requirements (for commercial vehicles) are proposed to be different for properties
within the MUSA vs. those outside the MUSA. In the non-MUSA area, vehicles and/or
equipment shall be screened to a degree of 50% at ground level view with landscaping or
other means from the public right-of-way and. adjacent properties. In the MUSA area,
vehicles and/or equipment shall continue to meet the 75% screening requirement that currently
exists in code. This is done primarily by fencing or mature landscaping already in place.
Tarps are not considered screening.

Points to Consider:

· Applicable to all types of vehicles and equipment rather than trying to categorize
· Number of vehicles allowed based on aggregate level oflot size
. Easier to manage and administer
· Staff does not recommend changing existing ordinance to allow one unlicensed and
inoperable vehicle to be stored outdoors
. More incentive to store vehicles indoors
. May require access to property to view vehicles not within line of sight of street
. Would create more accessory structures

.
