Mayor Ramsey stated that Youth First was attempting to obtain a grant for $40,000 and he did
not feel that the City should fund that program for $33,000 in addition to that grant. He
questioned if any items could be moved from the general fund to the charitable gambling fund.
The Council further discussed the programs that could or should be cut. It was determined that
the Anoka Aquatic Center would not be funded for the 2010 year.
Finance Officer Lund confirmed that only 35 percent of the charitable gambling fund could be
used for these programs.
Councilmember Dehen questioned if further information could be provided in regard to the
Night to Unite.
Councilmember Look questioned if funding for the Lower Rum River WMO could be dropped
from $12,200 to $8,000. It was determined that option could be reviewed.
Financial Officer Lund reviewed the projects that would be funded through the charitable
gambling fund and partially through the general fund.
Mayor Ramsey stated that he would prefer to fund the North Metro Chamber as the cost was
only $250.
Councilmember Jeffrey agreed with Mayor Ramsey and requested additional information
regarding the North Metro Mayors Association.
It was confirmed that the Council would like an analysis in regard to the costs for Night to Unite,
Safety Camp, and Happy Days.
MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT
None
ADJOURNMENT
The Work Session of the City Council was adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Kurtis G. Ulrich
City Administrator
City Council Work Session / September 22, 2009
Page 4 of 5
