One
of the amendments changed the land use designation for propemies that are located south of
Highway 10 from Places to Shop and Low Density Residential to Places to Work. At the May 1,
2003 Planning Commission meeting, City Staff brought forward the retorting of these properties
to the new Employment District in compliance with the adopted Comprehensive Plan. He
explained that at the May 1, 2003 Public Hearing, several residents of Rivtyn Avenue broug~ht
forward their concerns regarding the zoning change of their prope~-'x? to an Emplo~vment Zoning
designation since among other things, it would make their single-family homes non-conforming
uses. He stated the Planning Commission tabled action to the June 5, 2003 Planning
Commission meeting while staff re-notified the neighborhood about the pending action. He
indicated ar the June meeting, the residents presented a petition opposing the rezoning and
requested that the Ci~ bring forward a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to change their single-
family homes back to the Low Density Residential designation.
