Councilmember Cook suggested that the area of the existing single-£arnily homes be changed back to Single Family Residential and the other area stay as 'Places to Work'. CiW Administrator Norman stated that it is good planning to identi~, the area as 'Places to Work", but there are currently no plans for the area so he did not have a problem with changing the area where the homes are back to Single Family Residential. He noted that the change would require a Comprehensive Plan amendment. Councilmember Eivig inquired if it is di~%ult for the property owners to use their property if'the land is desi~m2ated as 'Places to W'ork:. Community Development .Director Frolik explained that it could create problems with mortgage companies. Councilmember Cook noted that it would also make it almost impossible for someone to sell their home. Councilmember Kurak felt that the land use designation should be changed back to Single Family Residential. Councilmember Elvig inquired if it was possible to identify, the land use as Mixed Use since residential is a permitted use; then in the future they would not need to amend the Comprehensive Plan if the area we_re to be redeveloped. .Councilmember Kurak inquired if a Mixed Use designation would have a negativ,e impact on a property, owner trying to get a mortgage on their property. Community Development Director Frotik replied that she did not think that it would since residential is a permitted use under the Mixed Use designation. Councilmember Cook stated that the problem he could see with the Mixed Use designation is that one property owner may decide to sell their property to a commercial business and 'then all the other homes would be surrounded by the commercial business. Councilmember Zimmerman felt that they should respect the opinion of the residents that live in the area and change the land use back to Single Family Residential. Consensus of the City Council was to direct staff to proceed with changing the land use designation back to Single Family Residential for the parcels on the north side of Pdvlyn Street. Community Development Director Frolik explained that the second issue had to do with the Holasek/Hamilton property, south of Pdverdale and Highway #10, west' of the hotel.
