PC# <br /> <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO BEGIN RECRUITMENT <br /> PROCESS FOR A BUILDING OFFICI.~L <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />On May 6, 2003, Mr. Glyn Huff resig-ned from his position as Building Official for the <br />City of Ramsey. As you are aware, Minnesota Statutes require that cities appoint a new <br />Building Official within 15 days of a vacancy. Inspectron was hired as the City's interim <br />Building Official with the understanding that services provided would include leadership <br />in the areas of staff development and guidance, residential and commercial code <br />compliance, plan review, and inspections. <br /> <br />After holding several meetings tO discuss the Building !~sp¢ction_s Division, staff is <br />recommending that the Council authorize staff to begin the recruitment process for a <br />Building Official. The position description has been reviewed and updated to reflect the <br />needs of the Division. The primary duties of the Building Official position are to <br />supervise Building Inspections staff; ensure code compliance for all new and existing <br />structures; collect, organize, and maintain building records and information; perform <br />administrative and community service activities, and direct the administration of the <br />Building Division including the application of Building Codes and applicable City-codes. <br /> <br />The recommended salary range for this position is $52,800-$66,000.
