<br />provided in the agenda prompted discussion of possible speed limits that would achieve the <br />City's goal of making them uniform along the two collector streets. <br /> <br />There was some consideration of extending the 45 mile per hour limit along Alpine Drive from <br />Armstrong Boulevard to Highway 10. This would require raising the limit by five miles per hour, <br />as it is currently 40 miles per hour. There was mixed support for this change. <br /> <br />The Committee recommended on a 2 to 1 vote that the City Council endorse the speed limit <br />modifications as illustrated on the original sketch attached to the case. <br /> <br />Motion carried: Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmember Dehen. Voting No: <br />Councilmember McGlone <br /> <br />Case #6 <br /> <br />Consider No Parking Zones for Alpine Drive at Skate Park Entrance <br /> <br />Staff presented this case to discuss enhancing the safety by improving the sight lines between <br />pedestrians and east bound traffic. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Dehen to restrict parking along the <br />north side of Alpine Drive from 153rd Ct. to the west approx. 200' to the common property line, <br />and also to the east approx. 50' - 100' for adequate site distance. They also wanted to restrict <br />parking on the south side of Alpine Drive out approx. 50' - 100' in both directions from the new <br />parking lot entrance at the skate park for better visibility. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Dehen to approve restrict parking <br />from 153rd past the lot line and 153rd the east and sight lines from the exit per staffs <br />recommendation for adequate sight lines. <br /> <br />Motion carried: V oting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone. Voting <br />No: None <br /> <br />Case #7 <br /> <br />Review 2010 Projects <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Jankowski reviewed the staff report and staff is asking the Committee to <br />prioritize the 2010 projects. <br /> <br />Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer Olson discussed the future Armstrong Boulevard <br />project consisting of signalization at County Road 116 and Armstrong Boulevard. Upgrading <br />two lanes in each direction at the signal with turn lanes, constructing full eastern, southern and <br />western and northern lights at the intersection up to 1000 feet. <br /> <br />The second project discussed improvements to the Now and Then street reconstruction. Staff <br />feels this project may not go through. City Engineer Himmer discussed how the 167th Avenue <br />reconstruction project impacted this development. Himmer met with the residents about a year <br />ago, and showed them three or four different options for improvements, with overlay, overlay <br />with storm improvements, reconstruction with utilities and reconstruction without utilities <br /> <br />Public Works Committee rOctober 20, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 8 <br />
