Project
Profile

Project Type
Village Master Plan
Pingree Grove, Ill.

Client
Village of Pingree Grove

www.LHBcorp.C0111

Pingree Grove Village Master Plan

The plan illustrates how a village
commons can be shaped around a
piece of the Pingree Grove Forest
Preserve, perpetuating nature as the
centerpiece of the village center.
Most important, the concept employs
a principle of evolution of uses,
allowing homes that exist today to
remain and become a part of the
future fabric of the village, and only
changing when today's owners decide
the time is right.

With growth projected to increase
from 124 in the 2000 Census to more
than 15,000 over the next twenty years,
Pingree Grove fears the loss of its
village character. While its downtown
may not hold much architectural merit,
it is worthy for its patterns, with public
space at a prominent intersection,
narrow streets, and nearby homes.

A concept plan was prepared to
demonstrate how village character can
be extended even as the village center
grows to accommodate a much wider
variety of uses and greater activity.
