Table D-I0 presents resident employment data for Anoka County from 1990 through 2009
(through August). Resident employment data is calculated as an annual average and reveals the
work force and number of employed people living in the County. It is important to note that not
all of these individuals necessarily work in the County.

· While Table D-9 showed there were about 113,990 jobs physically located in Anoka County
in 2008, Table D-l 0 (located on the following page) shows there were about 180,630 em-
ployed people who live in the County (2008). The data relationship indicates that about one-
third of Anoka County residents commute to jobs located outside of the County while the
other two-thirds work in the County.

· Evidence of the current recession, approximately -8,800 jobs were lost in Anoka County be-
tween the 2006 and 2009 (through September) and the labor force increased somewhat,
which has caused the unemployment rate to increase substantially. By July 2009, the unem-
ployment rate had reached 8.9% in Anoka County. As of September 2009, the unemploy-
ment rate dropped to 7.9% as employment increased compared to labor force. There is some
concern however, that workers who have now been unemployed for a long period oftime,
may have dropped out of the statistics, skewing the unemployment rate lower. With these
updated figures, Minnesota's unemployment rate has dropped further below that of the US
which is currently at 9.5%.

· In the years preceding 2007, the unemployment rate in Anoka County remained below th
. Metro Area and State; however, the unemployment rate in the County has surpassed
geographies slightly and is currently at 7.9% (September 2009) compared with 7
