After
graduating from Carleton College in 2000 wlth a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, I began
working as the resident caretaker for the Wildlife Science Center in 2001. I was
responsible for maintainence and animal c~e for a facility holding over 100 animals and
visited by over 20,000 people per year. ill addition, I also served as a teacher for school
programs, tour groups and assisted in instruction for Wildlife Handling Classes teaching
Wildlife professioIl;als how to safely handle wildlife in a field setting. I moved out in
September 2009 to my new home but still continue to work there as much as my schedule
allows.

I also have worked as an Animal Control Officer since 2005, first for Animal Control
Services and then for the City of Minneapolis. I provide enforcement of animal related
Ordinances and state Statutes, respond to calls of found or injured animals, perform
inspections for multiple animal permits and serve as a first responder assisting Police,
Fire, EMS and large scale Disaster Management schemes. I have had the opportunity to
work with many different cities regarding properties that have permits for dogs and cats
above the normal allowable limit and have provided guidance to many regarding how to
minimize the impacts of multiple dogs upon the appearance of a property and conflict
with neighboring properties.

David Swinton:

I met Dave in the fall of 2004 while he was visiting northern Minnesota. We met while at
Gooseberry Falls State Park and became quick , friends, becoming close over the years
keeping in touch through phone and email. After graduating from Edinborough
University with a degree in Sociology, Dave has worked in the restaurant industry,
currently working as SOliS Chef at the Loch Tummel fun near Pitlochry, Scotland. Dave
plans on moving here to Minnesota to continue his education in Culinaiy Arts and
restaurant Management at the Arts illstitute of Minneapolis in the fall of2010. Dave has
spent his whole life around animals, raising sheep, goats, horses and dogs on his family
property in Scotland.

3

14
