PROJECT APPROACH

The success of this project hinges upon the team's ability to understand the needs of the City and
County and to design the spaces to realize this vision. Our design process is one of discovery,
centering on collaboration. Tailoring spaces to the specific needs of the user groups and the other
identified stakeholders can not be achieved without extensive participation and partnership with the
client.

APPROACH

Our specific approach to your project will be tailored to meet the needs of both the City and County.
Probably the best way to illustrate our approach is through an example of a current we are working on.
In the summer of 2009 Collaborative Design Group was commissioned by the City of West St. Paul
and Dakota County to provide new "fleet and fleet maintenance" facilities for both the City and County.
The project has a very aggressive schedule and requires that the project be closely coordinated
between the two Owners'. We started by having a kick off meeting that involved both the City and
County decision makers. In this meeting goals and schedules were discussed and coordinated. Out
of this meeting several key decisions were made:

1. The County was to be the Owner's Representative for both projects.

2. Although the City and County had separate goals we were to use the Counties documented
Design Standards.

3. The City and County were committed to working to the same schedule.

It was decided that subsequent design meetings would be held weekly at the City offices. Through the
process we have worked closely with both clients to economize our approach, coordinate separate
goals, meet both clients' schedules and produce quality design.
