Play-mobile
Minnetonka's recreation department provides a play-mobile for children at
Crown Ridge. The play-mobile offers children arts and crafts and athletic
activities during the summer months.

Block Party
Oak Knoll Lutheran Church sponsors a block party for the West Ridge Market
community. An annual event, the block party is filled with food, music, and
demonstrations by the City Police and Fire departments.

Scouting
The Boy and Girl Scouts have each established a presence at Crown Ridge. Of
the 27 children at Crown Ridge,. more than 90% participate in scouting.

Advantage Center
The City initiated the transfer of ownership and management from the current
owner to Common Bond Communities, Inc. Common Bond has a record of
successfully managing Iow and moderate-income rental communities for 30
years. Their approach involves the development of an advantage center on-site
that provides and coordinates services for the families. Some of these services
include tutoring and mentoring for the children, and employment assistance and
English as a second language classes for adults. The goal of the program is to
ensure the academic success of the children and the financial success of the
families.

TRANSIT
West Ridge Market residents and workers have direct, safe access to the
County Road 73 and Interstate 394 transit hub, with its express and reverse
commuter service to and from downtown Minneapolis, in addition to suburban
local service to shopping. The transit hub will soon be expanded with added
bus service through a 5-million dollar ISTEA grant.

PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES
Oberlin Park, adjacent to West Ridge Market, was renovated to serve this
expanded neighborhood of mixed income housing. The park includes extensive
natural areas, picnic areas, ballfields, tennis courts, a playground, and hard
court play areas. Lighted walkways extend from the park through the new
residential areas, providing safe and attractive pedestrian connections
throughout the neighborhood. A central public space at West Ridge Market is
the Pavilion building, which accommodates neighborhood meetings, recreation
classes, and a summertime music-in-the-park program.
