CASE # 2

2010 ENVIRONMENTAL EXPO
By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator

Background:

Staff has begun extending invitations to various agencies and organizations to participate in this
year's Environmental Expo & Tree Sale. The following entities have thus far been invited to
participate in the expo (awaiting response from most):
. Connexus Energy
. Anoka Conservation District
. Prairie Restorations Inc
. Wildlife Science Center (new)
. MN Herpetological Society
. Oliver Kelly Farm

. LRRWMO
. MWWA
. Geological Society of MN
. EPB
. Parks and Recreation Commission
. S & B Geothermal (new)

Most of the above groups participated in last year's expo event. Staff also will be extending
invitations to most of the other exhibitors from last year's event, but was interested in any
feedback from the Board regarding their interest in having them participate again. The following
organizations attended last year's expo but have yet to be invited:
. MMCD . Tree House of Horrors
. ACE Solid Waste . MN Hobby Beekeepers Association
. Cedar Creek Ecosystem Science . Simply Neutral
Reserve . Anderson Irrigation
. Bell Museum of Natural History . Master Naturalists

Regarding a potential keynote speaker, Staff did contact Ron Schara Enterprises to inquire about
the potential availability of Mr. Schara. Unfortunately, he is already booked for that weekend.
However, it sounded like this event was something that he would certainly consider being a part
of in the future. Another option that was suggested to Staff was a Mr. Bill Sherck, who is also
affiliated with Ron Schara Enterprises and co-hosts the television show Due North Outdoors and
often co-hosts Outdoors Live, a weekly radio show.

Staff has confirmed that S & B Geothermal will give a presentation on geothermal energy
intended to inform and educate people about this alternative energy option.

EPB Action

Based on discussion.

EPB: 2/1/10
