Subdivision 1. Exceptions. Requirements of this ordinance may be waived by the City for a project in which at least 75% of the land has already received a permit(s) initiating clearing or grading activities prior to the effective date of this ordinance. a. The provisions of this ordinance are not intended to prohibit agriculture, silviculture, horticulture, or nursery operations within the City. bo The provisions of this ordinance are intended to prevent the spread of disease or infestation of trees within the City. Authorization may be obtained to remove certain trees to prevent the transmission of disease or infestation and to alleviate potentially hazardous trees that may cause injury to persons or property. SECTION 2. SUMMARY The following official summary of Ordinance #03-33 has been approved by the City Council of the City of Ramsey as clearly informing the public of the intent and effect of the Ordinance. It is the intent and effect of Ordinance #03-33 to amend Ramsey City Code Chapter 9 (Zoning and Subdivision of Land) to add a section to establish regulations and guidelines that will address tree preservation standards. SECTION 3. EFFECTIVE DATE The effective date of this ordinance is thirty (30) days after its passage and publication, subject to City Charter Section 5.07.
