<br />POLICY BOARD BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />2010 Work Plan <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Board Member Freeburg stated that he thought that storm water education and outreach should <br />be revised to state storm water management education and outreach. <br /> <br />Chairperson Max stated that he believed the Board should add another item to the work plan as <br />follows: complete water conservation tool box. <br /> <br />Motion by Board Member Riley-Daniels and seconded by Board Member Freeburg to approve <br />the 2010 work plan as amended and forward it to City Council for consideration. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Max, Board Members Riley-Daniels, Stodola, Hassett <br />Freeburg and Bentz. Voting No: None. Absent: Enstrom. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />2010 Environmental Expo <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report. <br /> <br />Board Member Riley-Daniels stated that she thought it would be good to have someone to speak <br />about attracting birds in the backyard, plantings to attract birds, and geothermal energy. <br /> <br />Board Member Bentz stated that he potentially has a contact at Toro and could check with them <br />to see about the availability of someone to speak at the expo about water management and <br />conservation through various irrigation systems and techniques. <br /> <br />Board Member Hassett inquired about the ability to access a dedicated phone line for the EPB to <br />receive calls concerning expo inquiries. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he did not think that was a possibility but that <br />members could direct folks to his phone number if they were interested or were looking for <br />additional information. <br /> <br />Board Member Hassett asked why the Environmental Expo and Business Expo were not just <br />combined into one large event. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that the purpose of holding the two events on the <br />same day and in close proximity to another is to capitalize on the cost savings on joint marketing <br />and promotion of the two events. Other than that, the two events are really quite different and <br />intend to achieve different outcomes. The Environmental Expo is intended to be an educational <br />event to promote awareness about natural resources and conservation while the Business Expo is <br />intended to promote and introduce local businesses to the community. <br /> <br />Environmental Policy Board / January 4, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
