CASE # S ~ S
REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS
By: Public Works Staff
Background:
The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and discussed the following
five cases:
CITIZEN INPUT
There was none.
APPROVE AGENDA
Motion to approve the agenda as submitted.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Motion to elect Councilmember Elvig as Chairperson of the Public Works Committee for 2010.
Motion to elect Councilmember Dehen as Vice-Chairperson for the Public Works Committee for
2010.
Case #1: Consider Request for Sidewalk Installation Along 150th Lane NW
Background:
Staff reviewed that a concerned resident emailed the Ramsey Elementary School requesting a
sidewalk be installed along 150th Lane NW from Nowthen Blvd to Helium Street. It was their
feeling that parents parking along both sides of this street during student pickup created poor
visibility for pedestrians walking in the street.
Staff informed the Committee that funding would come from the Public Improvement Revolving
Fund.
Motion to recommend that the City Council authorize staff to investigate the option for
installation of a sidewalk along the north side of 150 Lane from Nowthen Boulevard to connect
with the existing sidewalks within the Meadows subdivision along Helium Street.. The
Committee also directed staff to identify potential funding sources for sidewalks. and present ,a
case at a future meeting. Staff should contact the school to see if they could contribute to this
project and also discuss with them the internal traffic circulation on their site.
