CASE # S ~ S <br />REPORT FROM PUBLIC WORKS <br />By: Public Works Staff <br />Background: <br />The Public Works Committee met on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 and discussed the following <br />five cases: <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />Motion to approve the agenda as submitted. <br />ELECTION OF OFFICERS <br />Motion to elect Councilmember Elvig as Chairperson of the Public Works Committee for 2010. <br />Motion to elect Councilmember Dehen as Vice-Chairperson for the Public Works Committee for <br />2010. <br />Case #1: Consider Request for Sidewalk Installation Along 150th Lane NW <br />Background: <br />Staff reviewed that a concerned resident emailed the Ramsey Elementary School requesting a <br />sidewalk be installed along 150th Lane NW from Nowthen Blvd to Helium Street. It was their <br />feeling that parents parking along both sides of this street during student pickup created poor <br />visibility for pedestrians walking in the street. <br />Staff informed the Committee that funding would come from the Public Improvement Revolving <br />Fund. <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council authorize staff to investigate the option for <br />installation of a sidewalk along the north side of 150 Lane from Nowthen Boulevard to connect <br />with the existing sidewalks within the Meadows subdivision along Helium Street.. The <br />Committee also directed staff to identify potential funding sources for sidewalks. and present ,a <br />case at a future meeting. Staff should contact the school to see if they could contribute to this <br />project and also discuss with them the internal traffic circulation on their site. <br />
