ELECTION OF OFFICERS <br />Motion by Councilmember Dehen, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to elect <br />Councilmember Elvig as Chairperson of the Public Works Committee for 2010. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmembers Dehen and McGlone. <br />Voting No: None. <br />Motion by Chairperson Elvig, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to elect Councilmember <br />Dehen as Vice - Chairperson for the Public Works Committee for 2010. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig and Councilmembers McGlone and Dehen. <br />Voting No: None. <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Consider Request for Sidewalk Installation Along 150 Lane NW <br />City Engineer Himmer reviewed the staff report. <br />Councilmember Dehen stated there were a lot more areas along busier roads than this one that <br />should have sidewalks. He asked what the pressing issue was. <br />Chairperson Elvig responded this was a dangerous area with narrow roads and parking did not <br />allow students to get into their cars safely. He noted this was part of a bigger problem. <br />Councilmember McGlone stated this was a narrow street and it had a lot of traffic volume. He <br />believed this area was a high priority area. <br />Councilmember Dehen stated he did not object to this proposal if it was a priority area and a <br />safety issue. <br />Councilmember McGlone inquired as to where the funding would come from. <br />City Engineer Himmer responded it would come from the Public Improvement Revolving Fund. <br />Chairperson Elvig expressed concern about stacking of vehicles and he believed this caused the <br />problems also. He believed parking should be restricted on one side. <br />Chairperson Elvig requested staff research further funding sources. <br />Councilmember Dehen noted the parking lot issue still needed to be resolved also. <br />Motion by Councilmember McGlone, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to recommend that <br />the City Council investigate the option for installation of a sidewalk along the north side of 150 <br />Public Works Committee / January 19, 2010 <br />Page 2 of 5 <br />
