For the first time in
eight (8) years, we are happy to report that there were no fatal motor vehicle accidents. Through
forfeiture from a repeat DWI alcohol offender, the police department obtained a 1999 Dodge Caravan.
The vehicle, which had no outstanding lien attached, is now being used by the police department for
undercover alcohol enforcement and by city staff for transportation purposes. Officers also seized
$3,867 in cash as well as the driver's vehicle after a traffic stop for a probable cause pickup on a female
for check forgery. Drugs and paraphernalia were found in the vehicle, and during a subsequent
interview, investigators suspected that the female may have hidden something inside her body. She
was hospitalized and she was found to be concealing 10 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe in
a body cavity. Throughout the year, our investigators were involved in over 160 cases. An interactive
crime map is now available on the City web site. Six (6) six different types of crimes are tracked.
