C CASE #: 9.
CONSIDER A RESOLUTION REGARDING THE PARK AND RECREATION
COMMISSION VACANCY
By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager
Background
On January 12, 2010, the City Council adopted a policy requiring ads for board and
commission vacancies to be published in two issues of the Ramsey Resident, for
example, March/April and May /June.
A Park and Recreation Commission seat, formerly held by Jill Johns, was advertised in
the March/April issue of the Ramsey Resident, on the City's website, in the newspaper
and on QCTV. The City has received three new applications for this seat and there are
one or two past applicants who may be interested in this vacancy.
Some members of the City Council have expressed interest in filling the vacant seats with
from the applications that have been received to -date and staff is seeking formal direction
in this regard.
Funding Source
There are no costs associated with filling the vacant seat from applications received to-
date.
Staff Recommendation
Staff seeks direction regarding whether the City Council wishes to interview only those
individuals who have submitted applications for the Park and Recreation Commission
vacancy to -date or whether the City Council wishes to continue with a second phase of
advertising in the Ramsey Resident for the Park and Recreati Commission vacancy.
Reviewed By: City Administrator,
PC: 3 -23 -10
