She advised the 2010 budget includes a floor machine that will reduce
labor hours allocated to floor cleaning so it is not the intent to add additional maintenance staff.
Councilmember Wise asked if the kitchenette was always in the plans and stated concern with a
cost of $51,000 to buildout the mid-size conference room.
Deputy City Administrator Nelson described the plans for amid-size conference room build out
and the opportunity to use the corner under the stairwell as a kitchenette space. She reviewed the
work that would be included and noted this is an estimate, not a bid. If approved, Council Work
Session meetings may be moved to this new mid-sized conference room to free the use of the
Alexander Ramsey Room for the community. Deputy City Administrator Nelson explained that
if the Council supports this, it would be bid out as one project with the Anoka County space to
obtain a better price. It was noted the estimate does not include furniture, which will be designed
to create flexibility.
Councilmember Elvig stated he thinks the bid will be less than $51,000, noting it would not
include a camera for the purpose of televising. He stated the net is about $31,000 a year and
after. the fifth yeaz, the build out costs have been recovered.
Chairperson Look asked about increased foot traffic and impact to insurance and liability costs.
Finance Committee /February 9, 2010
