LRRWMO Meeting Minutes
June 15, 1988
Page 2
Correspondence was discussed relating to Loiter Rum River erosion
concerns due to the reported use of large watercraft motors. A letter
regarding same was sent to Chairman of the Anoka County Board of Com-
missioners Dan Erhart on 5 -19 -88 by Attorney Curtis A. Pearson, as
directed by the LRRWMO. A responding letter was received dated 5- 31 -88.
Mr. Pearson's 6 -6 -88 letter to Chairman Schrantz indicated that the
county would consider supporting an ordinance dealing with these erosion
concerns if the councils of the member cities support such action.
Mr. Pearson's 5 -19 -88 letter to Mr. Weaver was received stating
that the various WMO directives regarding correspondence and the initia-
tion of the Water Management Plan review process had been completed.
OLD BUSINESS
Acting Public Works Director for the Citv of Anoka Ray Schultz ad-
dressed the commission commenting on the Water Management Plan. Recom-
mended changes were as follows:
Page 9: Wetlands items #2 and #3. Mr. Schultz felt that there should
be some type.of definition page defining wetlands and their
types. In addition, the definition source and date should be
provided to allow for further research.
Page 14: Under Metropolitan Sanitary Sewer that last paragraph should
read: "The Metropolitan Waste Control Commission will construct
a lift station in Anoka at the existing waste water treatment
plant and will construct a forcemain across the Mississippi
River to an interceptor line in Champlin. Future construction
is anticipated by the Metropolitan Waste Control Commission
to extend the existing interceptor on the west side of the Rum
River in Anoka to the east, crossing the Rum River in the
vicinity of the Anoka Fair Grounds."
Figure 2 Map: Mr. Schultz reported that there is no number given to
Ward Lake.
WM0 members concurred that the Water Management Plan should indicate
I
hat the maps within the plan are not scale drawings and are merely
presented for representation.
It was further agreed that all comments an the plan would be received
before being accepted and passed on to Barr Engineering.
Upon discussion of a possible 4 -city council workshop, members con-
curred that first the no- ?ta'.Ike ordinance be considered and an operation pro-
cedure for the WMO be established before scheduling a workshop. A late
summer meeting date was suggested.
Jim Schrantz, as City Engineer for the City of Andover, requested a
30 -day extension for the Andover review of the Water Management Plan.
