s <br />V <br />LOWER RUM RIVER WATERSHED MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION <br />JUNE 15, 1988 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Chairman Jim Schrantz called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m. in <br />the Committee Room of Anoka City Hall. <br />i <br />ROLL CALL <br />Members present included Chairman Jim Schrantz, John Weaver, and <br />Pete Raatikka. Tom Mathisen was absent. Guest in attendance was <br />Acting Public Works Director for the City of Anoka Ray Schultz. <br />APRIL MINUTES <br />Motion was made by Mr. Raatikka, seconded by Mr. Weaver, to approve <br />the 5 -18 -88 meeting minutes as printed. All voted yes. Motion carried. <br />TREASURER'S REPORT <br />Not available. Treasurer Tom Mathisen was absent. <br />PAYMENT OF BILLS <br />None presented. Treasurer absent. <br />REPORT OF OFFICERS <br />None. <br />CONSIDERATION OF COMMUNICATIONS <br />Chairman Schrantz reported the receipt of a copy of a letter from the <br />Department of Natural Resources to John Underwood, 3620 Rum River Dr., <br />Anoka, granting an extension to his permit #84 -6186 for the construction <br />of a retaining wall on the Rum River. <br />Discussion ensued with regard to the role of the LRRWMO as a review <br />agency for the various projects and developments within the cities. <br />Various opinions were discussed. Mr. Raatikka felt that should this <br />WMO become more involved in the review process for projects, the city <br />engineers' job will be duplicated. Mr. Weaver felt this board should <br />comply with whatever the statutes dictate for WMO activities. Much dis- <br />cussion followed. legal adviser Curtis Pearson would be consulted at <br />the July meeting. <br />Secretary John Weaver reported that cover letters for the dispensa- <br />tion of the Water Management Plan were sent out to the four cities on <br />5- 19 -88. Those cities /city councils will have a 60 -day period for review. <br />
