Information regarding the levy was included in
St. Paul, Minnesota 55107 the instructions for the Form 280 from the Department
(612) 296 -3767 of Revenue. This memorandum provides additional
Fax (612) 297 -5615 information in the form of three exhibits.
Regional Offices
Northwest Region
1106 Paul Bunyan Drive, NE
Bemidji, MN 56601
218-753-3963
Northeast Region
394 South lake Avenue
Room 402
Duluth, MN 55802
218 - 723-4752
West Central Region
503 Washington Street
Brainerd, MN 56401
218.828 -2604
South Central Region
Box 756
New Ulm, MN 56073
507. 354 -2196
Southeast Region
Friedell Bldg., Room 100
1200 S. This information was recently
prepared by the Department of Revenue and replaces
earlier versions.
Exhibit C is a county listing of eligibility based on
the status of approved comprehensive local water plans.
Columns marked "possibly eligible" and "not eligible"
are best estimates based on our projections of local
water planning schedules.
Given the increasing activity in local water planning
and the near completion of many plans, we expect many
additional counties to be eligible next year.
We urge counties considering the levy -even
tentatively- to indicate the special levy for water
plan implementation as a proposed levy. If you later
decide to implement this special levy but it was not
listed as a proposed levy, this special levy cannot be
implemented. Conversely, if the levy is listed as a
proposed levy and you later decide to not implement it,
the levy can be omitted from the final certification.
If you have general questions or comments, contact the
BWSR staff person assigned to your county. A map is
provided for your information. Questions concerning
the completion of Form 280 or levy procedures should be
referred to the Department of Revenue. The BWSR
appreciates this opportunity to work closely with
counties on water management issues.
CC: Richard Gardiner, Department of Revenue
Association of Minnesota Counties
An Equal
Opportunity Employer
