LRRWMO Meeting Minutes
October 16, 1991
Page 2
Secci Disk Monitori on Rogers Lake
Motion was made by Schultz, seconded by Jankowski, to
AUTHORIZE THE $35.00 PAYMENT TO THE ANOKA COUNTY SOIL AND
WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT FOR SECCHI DISK READINGS ON
ROGERS LAKE FOR THE 1991 SEASON.
3 ayes - 0 nayes. Motion carried.
Monitoring on Round Lake
LRRWMO members reviewed correspondence from Dale S. Sauer and
Patricia L. Rudolph, Anoka County Conservation District, with
regard to the lake gauging program for Round Lake. It was
noted the Coon Creek Watershed had paid for Round Lake's
gauging program until this year when Tim Kelly, the Admini-
strator for the watershed, determined Round Lake was not in
their watershed district, and they would no long pay for its
lake gauging program. Because Round Lake is in the Lower Rum
River Watershed District, the Anoka County Conservation
District requested the Lower Rum River WMO consider providing
at least a partial payment for the 1991 Round Lake gauging
program: $114.00 plus $35.00 for setting up a secchi disk
station.
Schrantz and Jankowski concurred perhaps the LRRWMO should
make the partial payment in that it is the Lower Rum's lake,
even though the LRRWMO did not contract with the Anoka County
SWCD for its monitoring.
The board queried what other agencies may be doing a similar
monitoring program of the Anoka County lakes.
Motion was made by Schultz, seconded by Jankowski, to TABLE
FURTHER CONSIDERATION OF THIS ITEM UNTIL THE FULL LOWER RUM
RIVER BOARD IS PRESENT.
3 ayes - 0 nayes. Motion carried.
Jankowski stated this board should decide what kind of data
the LRRWMO wants to sponsor gathering when alternate sources
are available. Schultz felt if other public agencies have
gathered this type of data, it should be available to the
LRRWMO at no cost.
The Recording Secretary was directed to send a letter to the
Minnesota Department of Natural Resources asking if they have
established a procedure for monitoring and collecting data on
lakes within Anoka County.
