Mr. Olson indicated he could
get a quotation for that; however, that is where the public
liability insurance would come in to play.
Mr. Olson left the meeting room briefly to allow members to
discuss the issue. Members concurred they would have pre-
ferred to be insured under their individual cities' insurance
umbrellas; however, there did not seem to be any alternative
but to purchase this much needed insurance as a board.
weaver indicated he would like to take this matter back to
the City Councils, prior to approving the purchase of the
insurance, so they are aware this board will be spending this
amount of money for insurance out of the reserve this year,
but that the following years said expense will have to come
from an increased general budget provided by the member
cities. He added it is imperative the Councils realize this
board must have appropriate insurance coverage.
Members discussed when the policy should become effective and
from where the insurance premium money for the remainder of
this year would come. Erickson indicated we would probably
reallocate money to cover the board for the remainder of this
fiscal year. There has been $3,000 budgeted out of reserve
funds for insurance for fiscal year 1992.
Upon Mr. Olson's return to the meeting, Schultz queried
whether or not this insurance will cover our hired
consultants, both legal and engineering. He noted Skallman
was previously heard to indicate he wants coverage under this
board for errors and omissions. Mr. Olson stated those
consultants and their individual firms would not be covered
under this insurance. However, this board relies upon their
expertise and their recommendations would be covered. The
two consultants would have their own professional liability.
However, Mr. Olson did recommend the board require both
consultants to provide a Certificate of Insurance regarding
their professional liability. The board concurred, directing
the Recording Secretary to communicate with the consultants
requesting said documents.
Upon discussion of when
given the present budget
and members concurred, a
16, 1991, through January
handled in such a manner
parties.
the coverage would become effective,
limitations, Mr. Olson suggested,
policy be written effective October
31, 1993.
