He inquired if the City Council had reviewed
the request for proposal. .

Mayor Gamec replied that Chief Way was authorized to put together a request for proposal for
towing at a Public Safety Board meeting. Those prop6sals will then be brought before the City
Council.

Mr. Bouten explained that the format for the request for proposal for towing was obtained from
the city of Maple Grove, which is different than the City of Ramsey in regards to towing. The
city o£ Maple Grove has a large amount of heavy truck accidents which requires different
equipment, and in the 2-½ years his company has.been handling the towing services for Ramsey,
he has never needed that type of equipment. The proposal requires certain equipment that they
don't have such as a Class 8 truck. Mr. Bouten has been in business for 15 years and he tows for
Dayton and Champlin, and has never had the need for such equipment. He would like the
Council to look over the proposal carefully and decide what is necessary.

I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I

I
I
i.

I
I
I
I
I

-128-

City Council/March I1, 2003
