Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that there is one dead boulevard tree that will need
to be replaced but that he did not think that that would be a good fit during the event because a
portion of the road would need to be coned off for safety purposes at the same time that they
were trying to encourage people to attend the expo event.
There was general consensus amongst the Board that experimenting with seedlings rather than
ball and burlap trees was a good idea because it likely would result in more people being able to
take a more active role in planting rather than having to rely on heavy equipment to move trees
around and into planting holes.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he would have more information for the Board
at their May meeting.
BOARD/STAFF INPUT
Environmental Coordinator Anderson informed the Board that the City was co-sponsoring a rain
barrel and compost bin sale event on May 15 at the old Target site (11000 Crooked Lake Blvd)
in Coon Rapids.
Chairperson Max inquired if these could be reserved or pre-ordered prior to that day.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that this would be on a first come first serve basis
and that there was not apre-order option.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Board Member Riley-Daniels and seconded by Board Member Hassett to adjourn the
meeting.
The meeting adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
Resp ctfully submitted,
C
~~
Chris Anderson
Environmental Coordinator
Environmental Policy Board /April 5, 2010
Page 5 of 5
