Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he could provide a laptop for the Board's booth
that could have both the DNR and the ACD webpages up on invasive species.
Board Member Bentz stated that he thought there needed to be pictures with captions displayed
at the booth, not just a laptop.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson asked the Board to select the various invasive species that
they wanted to focus on and he would get some photos printed out along with some basic info on
them and the Board could use his tri-fold display board for their booth.
Consensus of the Board was to have info on buckthorn, Canada thistle, spotted knapweed and
garlic mustard.
The Board also thought it would be good to have one of the weed wrenches on display at the
expo event.
Board Member Freeburg inquired about the spring recycling day event and if they could have
flyers on that event available at their booth to help promote it.
Board Member Freeburg inquired about the availability of applications for Board/Commission
vacancies to hand out at the event.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he will provide his business cards, recycling
day info, the Board/Commission applications and photos/info on the various invasive species for
the Board's booth. He can also work on getting the mission statement and work plan printed on
the plotter, which can provide large scale printouts.
Board Member Bentz asked if assistance was needed setting up for the expo on Friday night
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that if anyone was interested/willing to help setup
the night before, it would be welcomed.
Chairperson Max asked about possibly doing some sort of interview with Val Cervenka for
QCTV.
Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he thought that would be a great idea. In fact,
doing a series of interviews with Board Members throughout the year on topics like topsoil, oak
wilt, etc might be a great way to promote awareness and to promote the efforts of the Board.
Case #4: Arbor Day Planting Event
Environmental Coordinator Anderson presented the staff report.
Chairperson Max inquired if there was any space around the Municipal Center for a ceremonial
tree planting that could be done during the expo event.
Environmental Policy Board /April 5, 2010
Page 4 of 5
