Absent: None.
Also present was Anoka alternate Ray Schultz and Bob Beduhn; Barr Engineering.
NEW BUSINESS
1994 Local Water Planning Challenge Grant Pro rg am
Jankowski reported on the meeting he and Weaver attended whereby the Anoka County
Wetland Committee recommended the County Commissioners adopt a resolution passing
any authority the County may have to the LRRWMO to apply for the Challenge Grant to
cover part of the WMO Plan update costs. Subsequent to that meeting, the Anoka County
Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution #94-105 Transferring Authority to the
LRRWMO to Apply for and Administer BWSR Local Water Resources Protection and
Management Program (LWRPMP) Challenge Grant. This grant application must now be
submitted to BWSR by July 18, 1994.
Bob Beduhn, Ban Engineering, reported on his activities with County officials, Rina
McManus, Suzanne Weedman and Bob Hutchinson regarding this grant program and
LRRWMO's intent. Following a meeting with these County representatives, it was decided
that the Anoka County Soil Water District had no role in the program and did not need to
be involved, and the County could transfer their authority directly to the LRRWMO. A
resolution was then prepared for the County Board's consideration and was approved as
reported by Jankowski.
Beduhn reviewed two resolutions which he had prepared for the LRRWMO to accept the
authority to apply for and administer the grant, and authorizing use of LRRWMO funds or .
in-kind services as the local match to the grant. He pointed out that the grant application
needs to be completed outlining what the LRRWMO plans to do with the Plan update,
itemizing cost, etc.
Weaver questioned the cost to complete the grant application. Beduhn stated the meetings
held with County officials regarding the grant have used most of the previously authorized
$400. He estimated several more hours to complete the grant application and prepare it for
submittal.
Jankowski stated he is encouraged by the potential of receiving Challenge Grant funds and
supports completing the application process.
