LRRWMO Meeting Minutes March 16, 1995 Page 5 Ohman advised that BWSR is conducting a wetland delineation certiScation school as a pilot program. Jankowski suggested the TEP review each delineation and questioned their availability to verify and certify wetlands. Ohman explained this will depend on their workload and suggested other WMO's be contacted to determine how they handle delineations. Jankowski suggested this matter be placed on the next agenda for further discussion. Weaver requested Ferguson provide a recommendation since Coon Rapids is involved with the wetland delineation process. Weaver questioned how acreage is determined if a survey is not done. Ohman clarified a surveyor is needed to determine, with any accuracy, what the acreage is. She advised discussions are underway in the Legislature to provide more flexibility in regulations at the local level and allow some flexibility. Zimmerman commented if there no flexibility is allowed, then wetlands tend to "hold highlands hostage" since you sometimes need to cross wetlands to access highlands. Jankowski extended the LRRWMO's appreciation to Barb Ohman for her attendance and information provided. CONSIDERATION OF COMMUNICATIONS Review Correspondence in Chair's Folder Jankowski reviewed the correspondence and notices contained in the Chair's Folder, noting they do not require action. Informational; no action required. With regard to the workshop "Connecting Northern Metro Communities to the Mississippi River", Weaver noted there is concern that many do not have a clear understanding of the National Park Service and how their regulations affect communities that abut the Mississippi River. He added they often times are not aware of the restrictions attached to accepting this type of grant funding. The Administrative Secretary was asked to obtain information from this seminar. SEH Plan Update Contract Obermeier asked if there was confusion regarding mileage charges as outlined in their contract. He noted reference to mileage reimbursement appears in two places.
