LRRWMO Meeting Minutes
April 17, 1997
Page 6
Weaver reviewed agency comments regarding lake quality monitoring and descriptions. He asked
what other agencies are already conducting this type of monitoring which should be identified in the
Plan. Lobermeier noted the comments from the ACD regarding their monitoring. Lobermeier stated
SEH contacted agencies to request the data they have available and the Plan contains the data which
exists, which is old data.
Schultz noted the amount of time it takes for these agencies to provide this type of data and
questioned whether these agencies have really provided the current data they have available. He
stated he knows of several areas which are being monitored but those agencies have not provided that
information. Lobermeier concurred and suggested the LRRWMO response indicate they believe data
exists but is not being provided, when requested.
Due to the number of comments made and importance of water quality, Weaver suggested those
agencies be asked to provide the information they already have which will avoid duplication of effort.
Ferguson suggested a policy whereby agencies notify the LRRWMO whenever they are monitoring
water bodies within its watershed. Schultz agreed and suggested those agencies be required to
receive a permit.
Weaver commented that in careful review of responses from seven agencies, there is no way the
LRRWMO can determine what monitoring is being conducted or what voids exist. which should be _
filled in the monitoring process. Therefore, the LRRWMO would like to be notified of all monitoring
which takes place within its boundaries.
Schultz stated this will allow the LRRWMO more control over its water bodies and may provide an
opportunity to assure adequate monitoring. Lobermeier suggested it would also provide the
opportunity to state parameters and to participate to obtain additional data, if desired.
Lobermeier indicated he is unable to attend the meeting scheduled for May 15, 1997. Consensus was
reached to schedule the public hearing meeting on May 21, 1997, at 7:00 p.m., at the Andover City
Hall.
The following consensus was reached:
• Administrative Secretary to request legal counsel review JPA comments and
draft an addendum for review at the May 15, 1997, meeting.
___
• Lobermeier to request BWSR for an extension for submittal ofresponse sort - -- -
can be reviewed at the May 15,1997, meeting •
• Schedule the public hearing on May 21, 1997 and direct notification to be
published in the Anoka Union, Coon Rapids Herald, and to notify agencies.
