Councilmember Cox introduced the following resolution and moved <br />for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION i86-167 <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING INTENT TO ACQUIRE AND DEVELOP GATEWAY NORTH <br />INDUSTRIAL AIRPORT <br />WHEREAS, the property known as Gateway North Industrial <br />Airport, was purchased in Ramsey Township by a group of <br />businessmen calling themselves the Anoka Industrial Park <br />Corporation in 1971. An airport was laid out in 1972 and <br />consisted of a soft -surface main and crosswind runway of 2,500' <br />and 2,365' respectively; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 16, 1984, the Airport Commission held a <br />public meeting to acquaint the general public with efforts <br />underway co evaluate the feasibility of developing Gateway North <br />Industrial Airport into a municipal facility; and <br />WHEREAS, in conjunction with the development of an <br />airport master plan, the Airport Commission held a public meeting <br />on August 22, 1984 to seek comments from the general public <br />relating to the proposed airport master plan; and <br />WHEREAS, on September 19, 1984, a special meeting was <br />held with landowners who would likely be affected by the <br />development of Gateway North Industrial Airport to review <br />concerns and more accurately describe the project; and <br />WHEREAS, a joint meeting vas held on May 15, 1985 with <br />the Airport Commission, Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic <br />Development Commission, and the City Council of Ramsey to review <br />concerns of each Commission and the City Council as it relates to <br />the development of the Gateway North Industrial Airport; and <br />WHEREAS, on August 21, 1985, a public hearing was held <br />to receive public comment on the proposed airport master plan and <br />study; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 8, 1985, the City Council adopted <br />the Gateway North Industrial Airport master plan; and <br />WHEREAS, on October 22, 1985, the City Council of <br />Ramsey adopted the airport layout plan for Gateway North <br />Industrial Airport; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 8, 1986, the City of Ramsey received <br />notice that Gateway North Industrial Airport is to be included in <br />the National Plan of Integrated Systems of Airports; and <br />WHEREAS, on May 20, 1986, the City of Ramsey received a <br />negative response to a request for air space approval on a <br />proposed alternate alignment for Gateway North Industrial <br />Airport; and <br />Resolution #86-167 <br />10-8 <br />
