It is anticipated that the City will construct an outlet from
the wetland areas along Industry Avenue in the next 5 to 10
years or when development in the area creates a need for the
outlets. These outlets and other drainage improvements will be
paid for by the Mississippi River Taxing District which includes
the airport property.
In review of the City's Thoroughfare Plan, one of the City's
main east -west corridors (Industry Ave -County Rd. No. 116) would
require relocation with the proposed airport expansion.
Discussions have been held with the Anoka County Highway
Department and they do not have any objections to moving the
county road. The proposed relocation was the original alignment
picked for Industry Avenue but was dropped due to difficulty in
obtaining easements. Since that time, the property has been
acquired by a new landowner, which is willing to cooperate with
the City in the relocation of Industry Avenue. Right of ways to
the west have also been negotiated as the property developed for
the future extension of Industry Avenue to the west.
The City recently had a Trunk Highway 10 Corridor Study
completed by Barton-Aschman, which reviewed the transportation
system in the area. That study proposes an additional east -west
thoroughfare north of the Burlington Northern Railroad. This
thoroughfare would be located south of the airport adjacent to
the railroad right of way. In review of the proposed future
runway elevation, the future approach from the south would clear
the proposed thoroughfare by 15 feet if the road elevation is
set below elevation 869. Both Highway 10 and the railroad
tracks are set at an elevation below 865. Therefore, the
proposed thoroughfare could be constructed without impacting the
approach zone of the runway.
2.14 ENERGY
Runway 16-34 is lighted dusk to dawn with a temporary airport
lighting system (TALS). An airport beacon is also operational.
In addition, support facilities of the FBO, hangars, and the
buildings owned by the Anoka Vocational Technical Institute are
energy consumers. Electrical service is provided by Anoka
Electric Cooperative (AEC). Communication with the AEC
engineering staff indicates that there is sufficient capacity
for future electrical requirements at the airport.*
*Communication w/D.
