Economic impacts to the aviation businesses can be minimized by
staging construction in the manner that least impacts operations
at the airport. It is anticipated, however, that grading opera-
tions will require closure of the airport for varying periods of
time. The schedule of construction and operational safety plan
will be coordinated with the FAA, Mn/DOT, FBO, contractor, and
airport users. The construction specifications will include
appropriate restrictions and schedules for the contractor.
The long term gains resulting from an improved public airport
facility include increased safety, efficiency, and service to
users and residents within the community and the region.
Construction of a 3300 foot paved runway with the recommended
lighting and approach aids will enhance the capability of Gateway
North Industrial Airport to accomodate growth in aviation
demands in the area. The improved facility will also prove to be
a long term asset attractive to those in the business community
who use aircraft or whose vendors and clients use general
aviation aircraft.
5-2
