SCHEMATIC AIRPORT LAYOUT PLANS
The General Mills property, the preferred airport site of the Preliminary Site
Selection report, is located in the southwest corner of Ramsey to the north
and east of U. S. Highway 10-169 and the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks.
The tract is primarily zoned as a rural open space, as shown in Figure 2, but
includes a sizeable area of floodway around and between Eddy Lake and Lake
Itasca. The floodway limits of County Ditch #51 - Trott Brook abut the northerly
edge of the property as shown in Figure Z
Alternate #6, utilizing a primary runway alignment of 14-32 and a crosswind
runway alignment of 5-23, and Alternate #8, using primary runway 17-35 and
crosswind runway 9-27 orientations, of the Preliminary Site Selection report
were able to achieve wind coverages in excess of 95 percent. Therefore, those
two (2) general layouts will be utilized in the following detailed analysis of
the General Mills property as the Ramsey Airport Site. The runway layouts on
the General Mills site are basically to the north of Lake Itasca in order to
minimize the impacts on the prime commercial-industrial lands adjacent to
Highway 10, 52, and 169 and to the Burlington Northern tracks.
The floodways of Lake Itasca, Eddy Lake and County Ditch 51 - Trott Brook and
the wooded areas of the site play a major role in the location, alignment and
orientation of the runways and are, therefore, shown on the schematic airport
layout plans shown on Figures 3 and 4. The floodways are non-buildable and
non-developable lands which are compatible and desirable in land use safety
' zones A and B

The wooded areas, part of the natural resources and natural
13
