~I <br />i~ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />i~ <br />REPORT <br />ON <br />SITE STUDY <br />FOR <br />CITY Of RAMSEY <br />GATEWAY NORTH INDUSTRIAL AIRPORT <br />I. Introduction <br />A. History of Existing Airport <br />The existing airport is a privately owned facility constructed as <br />part of the Gateway North Industrial Park in 1972. Currently there <br />are 30 aircraft based at the facility. The number of transient air- <br />craft utilizing the facility is estimated at-1000 for overnight tie <br />down and 1200 refueling stops annually. <br />The facility has been leased and operated by Anoka Aero, a corporation <br />based at the facility. <br />Anoka Vocational-Technical Institute has its air controller and FBO <br />training facilities based at the airport. These facilities include <br />3 classrooms and accommodate 130 students daily. <br />B. Relationship to Ci~'s Development and Metropolitan Development Plans <br />The original Airports Chapter of the Metropolitan Development Guide <br />provided for a new airport at or near the site of the present facility. <br />The current updating process of the Airports Chapter recognizes the <br />existence of the present facility. <br />The City's original comprehensive land use plan was prepared prior to <br />Ramsey's incorporation and after the present airport facility was <br />established. The City is currently updating its comprehensive plan <br />-1- <br />
