The construction of a pazallel runway and taxiway at Anoka County-Blaine
would increase the annual operational capacity of its airfield to approximately
355,000 operations, thereby decreasing average delay to approximately 1.2 minutes
per operation. To enhance pazallel operations and to improve safety, an air traffic
control tower is recommended. The Minnesota Department of Transportation and
MAC could consider funding tower wnstruction if the FAA would provide operating
costs. Anew airport in asingle-runway
configuration will have the potential to accommodate 230,000 annual operations, thus
increasing capaaty by more than 12 percent.
A new general aviation airport in Seazch Area "A" could potentially attract
operations from airports projected to be seriously overburdened by the end of the
planning period. By the end of the planning period, Anoka County-Blaine is
projected to have more than 315,000 operations annually. Search Area "A" is located
in proximity to Anoka County-Blaine.
