(6) Funding Rea^•re
South St. Paul Airport is managed and funded. by the South St. Paul Board
of Aeronautics, City of South St. Paul As noted on Table V-9, the only
recommended improvements for the airport are additional aircraft storage facilities.
Short-term, mid-term, and long-term development costs for the airport are estimated
as follows:
Short term - 51,584,600
Mid term - 5782,700
Long term - 51,327,500
Routine maintenance and replacement costs are not included in these estimates.
(7) Sygtem Plan Contingency
Some aircraft diverting from St. Paul Downtown may relocate to South St.
Paul Airport due to the proximity of these two facilities. It is unlikely that significant
NAVAID improvemenu could be made at SouW St. Paul Airport; therefore, any
aircraft that divert from St. Paul Downtown would undoubtedly be light single- and
twin-engine aircraft, rather than the more demanding corporate aircraft. It is
important that the airport closely monitor operadonat levels throughout the planning
period, in case significant diversion occurs from St. Paul Downtown. While it is
questionable if additional land can be acquired to significantly expand landside
facilities, a large increase in demand may prompt owners to reassess the constraints
associated with the neighboring parcels.
12.
