The aircraft owners and pilots survey conducted far this study indicates that
all services at Flying Cloud were considered as very important by a significant
number of the respondents. Those services and amenities requested include afull-
service FBO, repair and avionics, good snow removal, competitively priced fuel, and
secure storage. In addition, pilots mentioned the importance of an ILS at this airport
more than at a~ other airport. The airport currently provides a full complement of
services, which should be adequate for the planning period.
(3) Airside Facilities
The airport's runway layout consists of pazallel primary runways (9L/27R and
9R/27L) and a crosswind runway (18/36). Currently, Runway 9R/27L is 3,909 feet
long by 75 feet wide and is served by a full parallel taxiway. Runway 9L/27R is
3,599 feet long by 75 feet wide and is also served by a full pazallel taxiway. Runway
18/36, We crosswind runway, is 2,694 feet long by 75 feet wide. The crosswind also
has a full parallel taxiway. MAC is currently preparing to extend Runway 9R/27L
to 5,000 feet and increase its width to 100 feet, which will greatly increase the
airport's ability to serve as a reliever to Minneapolis-St. Paul International. By
extending Runway 9R/27L to 5,000 feet, Flying Cloud will be able to better serve
existing aircraft at increased useful loads. It should be noted that before a runway
extension can be implemented an environmental assessment must be completed.
NAVAIDs at the airport include I-IIRIs on Rumvay 9R/27L and MI:RL on
Rumvay 18/36, a MALSR and a VASI on Runway 9R, REIL and a VASI on Runway
27L, and a VASI on Runway 18. The airport also has a beacon and wind sock and
a precision approach and a nonprecision VOR approach on Rumvay 9R. This
precision approach was a critical reason for many of the based aircraft locating there,
according to the pilots and aircraft owners survey. A nonprecision VOR approach
is also available on Runway 36.
n
1-.J
V-75
