Gateway North's master plan is depicted in Ezhibit V-10. Other recommendations
of the Gateway master plan include:
. Develop a aonprecisioa approach
. MIRLc for Runway 16/34
. VASIs for Runway 16/34
. Aircraft storage construction
Aircraft apron
. Perimeter access road
Currently, Gateway North has approximately 30 based aircraft. Estimates
from the master play indicate that 55 based aircraft can be expected by the end of
the planning period (2008). If the proposed development potential of the airport is
realized, the airport could have storage facilities to accommodate approximately 160
based aircraft. This would allow Gateway North to accommodate some of the excess
demand predicted for Anoka County-Blaine, if a parallel runway cannot be
constructed or a new airport cannot be built in Search Area "A." It is estimated that
Gateway North's proposed ultimate land envelope can accommodate approximately •
160 based aircraft.
(2) Buffalo Municipal Airport
Buffalo Municipal is owned by the City of Buffalo. This Basic Utility airport
currently consists of a 57-acre site. The existing runway (17/35) is 2,600 feet long
and 60 feet wide (see Fahibit V 11). The master plan recommends expanding ;he
land envelope to approximately 240 acres and constructing a new 4,750-foot long by
100-foot wide runway (15/33).° The construction of the new runway will require the
abandonment of three area roads.
Other major master plan recommendations for the initial development term
at Buffalo Municipal include:
" Buffalo Municipal Airport Master Plan, July 1989, Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc.
•
V-107
