• <br />AC NO: 150/5300-4B <br />DATE: June 24, 1975 <br />(Page revised (12/5/78) by CHG 3) <br />0 ADVISORY <br />7 <br />CIRCULAR <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION <br />FEDERAL AVIATION ADMINISTRATION <br />SUBJECT: UTILITY AIRPORTS - AIR ACCESS TO NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION <br />1. PURPOSE. This advisory circular establishes design standards for <br />utility airports. These airports are constructed for aircraft of <br />12,500 pounds (5 670 kg) maximum gross weight and less. <br />2. CANCELLATION. Advisory Circular 150/5300-4A, Utility Airports - Air <br />Access to National Transportation, dated November 1968, is cancelled. <br />3. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES. .In addition to the editorial changes made to <br />clarify material, to correct dimensional omissions, or to recognize <br />changes in titles and references, the following technical changes have <br />been made. <br />a. Chapter 1. Updated aviation forecast and deleted dated references. <br />b. Chapter 2. Defined the limitations of the criteria contained in <br />this publication. <br />c. Chapter 4. Added background information on the runway length <br />curves and called attention to the requirement of the Federal <br />Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 135 as it relates to runway <br />length. <br />d. Chapter 5. <br />(1) Established minimum obstacle removal criteria to achieve <br />compatibility between airport design standards and airplane <br />operational rules. <br />(2) Recommended clearance over railroads changed from 25 feet <br />(8 m) to 23 feet (7 m) to be consistent with Part 77 of the <br />Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and U.S. Standard for <br />Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS). <br />Initiated by: AAP-560 <br />
