Suggestions for means to distribute information included:
Ramsey newsletter
Northwest Cable
post information at airports
ADPA monthly newsletter
Eden Prairie News
V. Surveys
Case noted that the aircraft owners survey was revised and mailed out. The
changes included simplifying the map and adding an "other" category to
questions 3 and 5. This survey went out to 2600 aircraft owners, mostly in
the metro area, plus some from outside the metro area.
Changes to the transient pilot survey included revising the map and adding
an "insurance requirement" category to question 3. J. Ippel expressed a
concern that transients may not be familiar enough with relievers to
select an alternate. Case suggested adding background information on each
airport at the beginning of the survey. N. Finney questioned how the
survey will be distributed. D. Daniluk responded that the state aircraft
registration listing of aircraft was used, sorting out those aircraft
located in the Twin Cities. From this they were able to get home
addresses. N. Finney noted that question 10 asks if they would continue to
use MSP if possible. The consensus is that if there is a new airport, MSP
will be closed. D. Beens responded that this has not officially been
resolved, but only a recommendation of the task force. B. Huber added that
the FAA hasn't decided this yet. If MSP is moved and a good reliever
system isn't available, then MSP would be used as a reliever. Case also
noted that it isn't explicit that all general aviation or military
operations would move.
VI. Airport Issues Identification
Drew Daniluk, Aviation Planning Associates, reviewed the list of issues,
noting that it is not a complete list of every issue, but identified the
key issues relating to the intent of a reliever --to relieve a major
airport. The study will try to find ways to entice users of the major
airport to use relievers and determine what amenities are needed at
relievers. The surveys will be used to help determine these. Also, in the
study, general aviation activity will be forecast and identify how much
can go to the existing reliever system.
