(6) Lake Elmo Airport <br />Lake Elmo Airport is located away from the urban areas of Minneapolis - <br />St. Paul, but has good access. There is currently a great deal of hangar <br />development in the north building area, and [iroom for additional expansion, <br />both airside and landside.) Residential uses have not yet begun to encroach <br />into the vicinity of the airport. <br />(7) St. Paul Downtown <br />The activity levels at St. Paul Downtown Airport have prompted numerous <br />complaints by local residents concerning aircraft noise levels. Since 1982, <br />however, an advisory council formed to address community complaints has been <br />effective in reducing noise impacts. Other issues at the airport include <br />expanded corporate facilities (induced in part by a low fuel flowage fee) and <br />continued military operations. Environmental factors such as wetlands may <br />affect future facility development. <br />(8) South St. Paul Airport <br />(South St. Paul Airport is currently increasing its hangar facilities and has <br />the potential for further expansion on land currently used for agricultural <br />purposes Activity is on the rise here, with existing FBOs experiencing <br />increases lin business and new industries locating on -airport. The MAC has <br />expressed an interest in purchasing this reliever airport, but the current <br />zoning status of the previously mentioned agricultural land has slowed <br />negotiations. <br />The following chapter, Reliever Forecasts, uses inventory data to determine <br />future demand for the study airports. <br />I-26 <br />
